Quetta: The Balochistan government has announced its decision to exempt the Gwadar Free Zone from provincial tax payments for a period of five years, a news source reported. Further, the cabinet has decided to set up new industrial estates and special economic zones (SEZ) in the province.

Provincial government spokesperson Liaqat Ali Shahwani told the media that the cabinet was mulling over a decision which concerned the development of mineral resources in Balochistan. Although the province is rich in mineral resources, it relies on laboratories situated in other provinces for its mineral testing efforts, he said.

For this reason, the members present at the cabinet meeting discussed the possibility of setting up a state-of-the-art laboratory for analysing minerals.

Moreover, the cabinet approved the Balochistan Essential Health Services Bill 2019, which will be presented in the provincial assembly for approval during their next session. This step has been taken in order to enhance the performance of paramedics and doctors, and to improve the health facilities available to locals.
