Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo on Monday (January 17) approved a PKR 2 billion increase in Balochistan Public Endowment Fund (BPEF) bringing the total sum to PKR 6 billion, news sources reported. A summary to increase these funds was moved by the Social Welfare Department for the medical expenditure of the deserving heart, kidney, cancer and other diseases patients.

According to a senior government spokesperson, more patients and impoverished families would be covered under the programme as a result of the BPEF fund seed money increase. According to the statement, the initiative has so far assisted hundreds of families in remote areas of the province with medical expenses. Hospitals in Quetta and other regions of the country have been empanelled under the BPEF plan to provide high-quality medical care.

It is important to note that Balochistan has allotted PKR 5.5 billion specifically for healthcare facilities in the budget, as well as the hiring of two secretaries to oversee the department for better treatment and service delivery.
