Quetta: The Balochistan government announced a relief package worth PKR 50 million on Thursday (June 11) for artists who are unable to find work amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis and the ensuing provincial lockdown, according to news sources.

Culture, Tourism and Archive Secretary Zafar Ali Buledi stated that the finance departments have approved a summary for establishing a separate bank account to offer relief to the artists in the province. The funds to the said account will be transferred through the Accountant General’s Office.
The provincial secretary said that data from all entertainment fields – including radio, television, folk music, theatre, film, calligraphy and painting – will be collected to ensure that the relief package for artists is disbursed on merit.

Previously, Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan had released a grant of PKR 5 million for the treatment of coronavirus-infected lawyers in the province. These funds were released on the request of the Balochistan Bar Council.
