Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Friday (March 4) performed balloting for the low-cost apartments, being constructed under Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), in Farash Town-Alipur, Islamabad, according to news sources.

PM Khan, speaking at the ceremony, stated that the government is relentlessly working to fulfil the dream of the underprivileged to own a home. The premier ordered the relevant authorities to ensure transparency in the balloting process. He went on to say that the model of high-rise buildings must be adopted to accommodate the growing population of the country and prevent the haphazard expansion of the cities.

It is pertinent to note that Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (NAPHDA) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) are working on the construction of 4,400 apartments in Farash Town. The PM performed the groundbreaking for the project last year in April. As per the details, the price of the apartment was fixed at PKR 3.2 million. It was disclosed that PKR 300,000 will be provided by the government, which will decrease the per-unit cost of these apartments to PKR 2.9 million.
