After seeing much controversy, Bahria Town has finally inaugurated an overpass and two underpasses near Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s tomb in Karachi. The project cost the developer Rs 1.89 billion and monumental opposition from the authorities concerned, but now that the overpass and underpasses have become operational, I think there would be no harm in using the idiom “all’s well that ends well”.
Owing to the controversies and stay orders, the project was completed within a year, instead of the promised time of 6 months.
Faheem Zafri of Defence4U Estate & Construction told Zameen.com that the underpass was connected to the underground parking of Bahria Icon Tower, a 62-storey under-development building. So, the projects will not only reduce traffic burden around Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s tomb, Park Towers, Muhammad Bin Qasim Park and 26th Street, they will also provide easy access to the Bahria Icon Tower and add to its value.
In line with his philanthropist nature and regard for workers, Malik Riaz gave an old labourer working with Bahria Town for years the honour to inaugurate the overpass and underpasses.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony, Riaz requested courts not to stay infrastructure development projects.
As the entire area around the tomb was left in a lurch because of the roads construction work and the stay orders from the Sindh High Court, the residents of the area can now heave a sigh of relief and enjoy the benefits of the developments.
I assume you are happy with the inauguration of these developments, but if you still have any concerns, I would like to know those concerns in the comments section below. And I almost forgot to tell you that I could not get further update on Bahria Town’s brand name issue that I discussed in my previous posts. Rest assured, I shall update you as soon as any authentic information becomes available to me in this regard.
Stay tuned!
