Karachi: The administration of Bahria Town Karachi recently announced its decision to extend the deadline to submit development charges for old files of the housing society by one month — with the new deadline set for March 15, according to the developer’s official Facebook account.

The earlier notices Bahria Town served regarding old BTK files stated that owners are required to get possession of their properties by December 31, 2019, at the latest, or they would be subject to a penalty worth PKR 100,000 for three months; to be paid in terms of non-utilisation charges. After this deadline, the Bahria management is expected to handover possession of the same property to another interested buyer.

The management shared an additional notice as well, which contained details regarding the dues applicable on owners who are required to take possession of their properties. The dues were specified under various headings, including utility charges, per month maintenance charges and possession charges. Moreover, prices for each were set in accordance to the property type and its size. For instance, the owner of a 125 yd2 plot was asked to pay PKR 183,950 in various fees.

The original December 31 deadline was first extended to January 15, and then to January 31. Later, Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz used his personal twitter account to announce that the deadline for overseas owners of old BTK files to clear their possession charges had been extended to May 15.
