Bahawalpur: Bahawalpur Cantonment Board (BCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rana Ramiz Shafqat stated that the board has earned a record-breaking PKR 900 million in tax income under various heads this year ending on August 31, news sources reported on September 13.

The Bahawalpur Cantonment Board collected PKR 150 million in the corresponding period of the last year. According to CEO Ramiz, the board generated cash from the rentals of its retail plazas, businesses, contractual buildings, and open parks. He stated that the goal is to make BCB financially viable. In terms of how the funds would be utilised, he stated that the cash will be spent on different development schemes throughout the cantonment’s five wards for the provision of basic facilities, including the construction of road infrastructure.

He further stated that PKR 40 million will be spent on the restoration and development of four roads: Sarwar Shaheed Road, Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Road, Model Town A’s Shabeer Sharif Road, and Malook Shah Road. He also stated that the sewage system and park renovations will be carried out in partnership with the Punjab government.
