Multan: The local government is seeking approval with regard to a solar energy project for Bahauddin Zakariya University – a news source reported. This initiative is expected to be completed at a cost of PKR 400 million.
Sources close to the development said that solar panels will generate 4MW of electricity. The university hopes to minimise its utility expenses by installing solar panels.

Initial funding will be secured from the Punjab government and Asian Bank. Moreover, additional electricity generated will be sold to the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) to cover the remaining cost.
Meanwhile, the education department has decided to install solar panels in as many as 179 schools situated in Multan district. All preliminary reports have been prepared in this regard.
According to details, at least 88 schools in Saddar area will get solar panels. Similarly, 48 schools in Shujabad and 32 in Multan City will get this facility.
