He made this statement at an NHA meeting held at the company’s regional office to discuss the implementation of axle load control on motorways and national highways in detail. He conceded that the transport sector plays an integral role in the country’s trade and economy. However, mutual cooperation between the sector and NHA is needed to protect the highways from the adverse effects of overloading.

He emphasised that huge amounts of money are spent on the construction and maintenance of these roads, so any damage to them must be avoided. This would also make travelling safer for everyone. Weekly meetings with transport organisations would be held to implement these axle load control regulations in a productive way for all stakeholders.
