Federal Minister of communication Fawad Chaudhry notified the press of the decision.
The minister indicated that the federal ministries’ and affiliated departments’ land will be reclaimed and utilised for better purposes.
Furthermore, the minister stated that the decision would be followed by the issuing of two ordinances to deal with the complicated litigation and judicial processes that will occur after the unlawful residents are identified and the land is vacated.
Following steps will be taken to retrieve the land
• The FGPMA will identify the federal land
• An officer will be assigned to deal with the unlawful occupiers and grabbers, and the occupants will be served with notices.
• The grabbers will have two options: either evacuate the land or pay rent from the date of their unlawful occupation to the date of service of the notice.

In another development, the government is considering expanding the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) to include more people in the government’s low-income housing initiative.
The decision is made to provide another chance to the citizens who did not apply during the first phase. Under the plan, the government has pledged to provide 5 million dwellings to the country’s low-income inhabitants. It was also stated that the decision was taken due to large swaths of federal land still being available for development after the approval of the initially submitted applications was processed.
