Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration on Monday (November 01) constituted a joint anti-encroachment committee to prevent land encroachment in the federal capital city, news sources reported. The committee will be in charge of identifying encroachment, dismantling it, and levying fines for illegal land usage within the capital’s boundaries.

According to the notification issued under the Government Property (Elimination of Encroachments) Ordinance, 2021; the additional deputy commissioner revenue, additional deputy commissioner (General), and CDA director land and rehabilitation will be the designated and authorised persons to conduct anti-encroachment drives. In other developments, the Punjab government has decided to collect and digitise police-owned land in the province.

In this regard, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan has directed all competent authorities in all divisions and districts to collect specific data about the land under police control, including measurements, location, and present usage, and upload it to a digital platform. The police would have to provide a reference letter from the Board of Revenue (BOR) on the transfer of land or any other manner of acquisition, as well as a copy of the Fard. In this regard, the officials have been asked to get the possession documents of land verified.
