Gujrat: A four-kanal piece of land within the limits of the Rohtas Fort area has been retrieved by the Jhelum district administration, according to a news source. This retrieval was also accompanied by the demolition of two illegally constructed structures near Dina – in the vicinity of the fort.

The action was taken on the directives of the Punjab Archaeological Department, and was led by Dina Assistant Commissioner Shahzad Mahboob and department engineer Imran Zahid. Previously, multiple attempts had been made to vacate the tracts of land surrounding Rohtas Fort, but they were met with difficulties because hundreds of families had been residing within the fort’s limits.

To make this operation successful, a housing colony has been planned to relocate the displaced occupants. These measures are being taken to preserve the Rohtas Fort, which will be promoted as a historical location for attracting international & local tourism.
