Karachi: The authorities concerned have resumed the Karachi Circular Railway’s (KCR) right of way operation after a gap of 12 days, a news source reported.

The officials demolished a school and removed 10 illegal water connections from the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) area.
Previously, the Supreme Court (SC) had ordered the Pakistan Railways to clear at least 50ft width along both sides of the railway track and then hand it over to the provincial government. So far, the authorities have cleared over four kilometres of the KCR track in SITE area.

After razing the school, the officials recovered a 2.5-feet local railway track. As per sources, 10 illegal water lines were found during the rubble-clearing process. The officials then proceeded to disconnect these lines as well.
Pakistan Railways Property & Land Deputy Director Sanaullah stated that they had already cleared the track in District Central and District East. He added that they will clear the track in District West by the earliest possible time. Sanaullah revealed that officials will clear the track between City Railway Station and Cantt station in District South during the next phase of the operation.

Sanaullah stated that seven kilometres of track have yet to be cleared in District West. He stated that there is a school and petrol pump blocking the right of way in the SITE area. Both of these structures will be removed in the future, he added.
