Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has directed the relevant authorities to conduct a survey for the construction of dam on River Swat, according to a news story published on October 26.

CM Khan chaired a meeting of the provincial cabinet in which he stated that the dam will help generate electricity, reclaim the land lying barren because of water shortage, and decrease damage caused by floods. Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif mentioned that the CM has directed the authorities to complete the ongoing survey of losses incurred by flood affectees as soon as possible to ensure timely rehabilitation.

The chief minister has directed the authorities to remove encroachments from streams, river banks, and water channels to avoid damages and losses in future. Moreover, the cabinet also approved other projects during the meeting including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Conservancy and Biosphere Reserve Rules 2022, the upgradation of Tehsil Razar, District Swabi to the status of Sub Division, select convener of Tehsil City Council through elections under Election Commission, and payment of remuneration and allowances to Local Government Representatives.
