Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to withdraw taxes on raw materials for the export industry in line with the vision to develop an export-oriented economy, according to a news story published in the national dailies on June 9.

Premier Shehbaz held a meeting with the delegation of the American Business Council. During the meeting, the minister ordered the creation of task forces to attract investment in various sectors including Information Technology (IT), large-scale manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce. He also informed the delegation that the government was taking steps to make sure the export quality of agricultural products was not compromised. Moreover, PM Shehbaz has asked the Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of the Board of Investment (BoI) to resolve the issues faced by the investors.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Marriyum Aurangzeb, Naveed Qamar, Murtaza Mahmood, and other senior officials.
