Islamabad: The federal government has decided to assist the Sindh government in the completion of major infrastructure projects being constructed under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) including; the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway (M-6) and Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), according to media reports on April 22.

The said announcement was made during a meeting held between Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal. During the meeting, the federal minister assured maximum support for the completion of projects including Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway, KCR, and Greater Karachi Water Supply Project (K-4).

Moreover, Federal Minister Iqbal stated that the work on Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway (M-6) should be expedited to resolve the travel problems. He went on to say that the nine industrial zones were supposed to be made operational in 2020; however, due to unforeseen delays, the first industrial zone is expected to start in 2024, the second in 2025, and the third one in 2027. The federal minister maintained that the projects will be completed within the stipulated time through interdepartmental cooperation.
