Attock: The Punjab Mines and Minerals Department and Geological Survey of Pakistan have launched a project in collaboration for the evaluation of placer gold deposits in the River Indus in Attock District, a news source reported on January 24.

As per the details, Punjab Mines and Minerals Department Additional Secretary Captain (retired) Waqas Rasheed and officials of the Geological Survey and minerals department visited the project site on River Indus. The additional secretary stated that the assessment project is expected to be completed at a total cost of PKR 48.2 million. It was mentioned that the detailed report will be completed by June this year.

The additional secretary stated that the evaluation project is being executed with the help of a geology survey, drone technology, sampling, and induced polarization. He went on to say that Punjab is rich in minerals and has distinctive wealth in its topography and geological structures. Under the project, drilling and sampling of underground material will be done.
