Lahore: Amidst worsening air quality in Lahore, the Punjab government is set to implement a plan for artificial rain on November 28, according to news reported on November 17.

The said decision was made during a special meeting chaired by Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi to address the escalating smog crisis in the provincial capital. The artificial rain is scheduled to be induced on the specified date as a measure to mitigate the rising smog levels.

In response to the critical smog conditions, the Punjab government declared a health emergency and decided to close educational institutions, markets, and offices in eight districts of the province on Saturday. Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the enforcement of Section 144 in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad. Consequently, public and private educational institutions, offices, cinemas, parks, restaurants, and markets will remain closed on Saturday, reflecting a comprehensive effort to tackle the smog crisis.
