Lahore: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has revealed that the government has arrangements in place with the Punjab Development Network to supply rations at the doorsteps of 500,000 deserving families across the province, a news source reported.

In addition, Muslim Aid International Foundation’s representative Burhan Aziz and Sarwar Foundation Vice Chairperson Begum Perveen Sarwar handed over rations for 10,000 needy families to Governor Sarwar on Tuesday, in a ceremony held at Airport Road. The governor said on the occasion that the coronavirus pandemic was exacerbating the employment situation in the country and that the deserving families needed even more support.

As per the publication, Governor Sarwar said that initially the provincial government had planned to supply rations to 300,000 families. However, it was later decided that an additional 200,000 families should be included in the relief program as well. The University of Veterinary & Animals Sciences (UVAS) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Naseem Ahmed and Sargodha University VC Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad also presented PKR 1.4 million and PKR 4.3 million cheques respectively, to Governor Sarwar — with the funds to be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Corona Relief Fund and utilised for relief measures.
