Peshawar: For construction of sports complexes in six subdivisions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the districts’ respective deputy commissioners (DCs) have identified a number of appropriate sites, reported a news source. Out of these planned six sports complexes, foundation stones for four will laid by the end of this month.

Funds in this regard have already been approved. For construction of sports complexes, the provincial government approved PKR 3 million for each district. Soon after the approval of funds, the government had instructed the DCs of these districts to identify appropriate areas for these facilities.

Furthermore, an amount worth PKR 700 million was also approved for protection and rehabilitation of archeological sites in these districts. The DC also received instructions on identifying three tourist sports in their districts for promoting tourism in tribal areas.

For this purpose, the DCs will coordinate with their respective tourism departments to arrange for cultural and tourist activities.
For the sports gala planned on February 15, 2019, instruction have already been given to provide for the related facilities.
