Lahore: The administration has determined a number of areas for forestation in Lahore, a news source reported. Authorities concerned will carry out dense forestation in various locations of the city, both in small patches and large chunks.

Commissioner Lahore Dr Mujtaba Piracha revealed this information in a meeting related to afforestation. Advisor to PM on Environment Malik Ameen Aslam, along with senior officers and members of civil society, also attended the meeting.
Piracha stated that the government will continue efforts for nature regeneration through the Punjab Clean & Green drive under Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s vision.
Aslam lauded the commissioner’s initiative, and support from civil society organisations for afforestation planning.
Piracha briefed the meeting about the initiative, and the steps taken for urban forestation with the help of civil society organisations. He revealed that these steps are based on comprehensive elements, which include soli fertility, site, location, sustainability, and overall impact.

He stated that the commissioner’s office was not only providing support, but also monitoring the venture in order to ensure the uniformity of the forestation strategy. He added that they are supervising the drive to ensure its sustainability.
