Islamabad: The Department of Archaeology and Museums (DoAM) Islamabad has reported the discovery of 38 new archaeological sites in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), according to news sources reported on January 12.

The sites were discovered during the last five years of exploration with the help of teams of archaeologists, who had already identified six archeological sites in the federal capital. The discovery of these archeological sites islamabad part of the larger expedition which has already discovered historical sites like Ban Faqiran Stupa, Mai Qamru Mosque, the Tomb of Sultan Makrab Khan, Farwala Fort, Rawat Fort, and Shah Allah Ditta Cave. As per the DoAM, the discovery of new sites is expected to open the door to exciting opportunities for archaeologists to learn more about Islamabad’s past and its cultural heritage.

This is not the first time the capital has seen new archaeological sites uncovered. In 2020, a new archaeological site, located in the Margalla Hills, was discovered.
