Rawalpindi: The Government of Punjab has made it mandatory for owners seeking property registration to present approved maps for their buildings, according to a news source. The new rule applies to all houses, shops and commercial properties in rural and urban areas of the province.
Those looking to get a map approved for commercial or residential buildings in the Cantonment Board areas are required to present a domicile certificate as proof of them being Cant residents, a verification certificate from the councillor of the local ward, Cant Board’s record as proof of property ownership, and a verification certificate from the local police station.
Properties without having an approved map will not be sold. Those looking to sell off their immovable assets in Punjab are now required to have an approved map. The buildings constructed before partition fall in the same category.
The news report further reveals that the properties under process for resale have also been put on hold, demanding the owners to present an approved map within a week. All registrar offices at district and tehsil level have been informed of the new rule, which is expected to generate revenue worth billions of rupees for the Punjab Government.
