Lahore: Ehsaas Programme Chairperson Dr Sania Nishtar shared that the programme, once approved by the Punjab Cabinet, will facilitate 10 million families across the province, according to news published in the national dailies on August 17.

The chairman held a meeting of the Programme Committee at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. During the meeting, she stated that the Ehsaas Program will assist 10 million underprivileged families. She mentioned that under the programme the families will be provided rations at a low cost. She further added that the Ehsaas desks were being set up in different districts of the province.
As per the details, Punjab Finance Minister Muhammad Mohsin Leghari revealed that the edibles will be provided under the programme to deserving families. He went on to say that ‘karyana stores’ will also be included in the digital ecosystem of the relief measures.
Moreover, the chairperson disclosed that the government is signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the National Bank of Pakistan, and mobile companies for transparent registration.
The minister also mentioned that the provision of treatment facilities to physically challenged persons will be made part of the Punjab Ehsaas Programme. It was stated that the Ehsaas Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Act, 2022 will also be approved.

The meeting was attended by Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, Chief Secretary Punjab and P&D Chairman, Punjab Finance Minister Sardar Mohsin Laghari, Transport Minister Muneeb Sultan, and other officers.
