Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sought the federal government’s approval to proceed with the construction of the Korang Bridge and the PWD Underpass as part of the Islamabad Expressway signal-free corridor project, according to news sources.

Further, the civic agency has sought a recovery of its expenses. It had recently announced its intention to finance the project itself and carry out the development work under the approved PC-1; subject to the executive’s approval and recoupment/adjusted scope of work for the department. The construction of two structures is estimated to cost PKR 1.30 billion.

The government recently allocated PKR 500 million in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2019-20 to facilitate the infrastructure development of the capital city.
As per the officials, the Islamabad Expressway, being the centrefold of the road infrastructure of the capital will benefit both local residents and interprovincial commuters.
