Peshawar: Public-Private Partnership Committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday (December 28) approved the construction of 360-kilometre Peshawar-Dera Ismail (D.I.) Khan Motorway and 30-kilometre Dir Motorway, according to news sources. The approval was granted in a meeting with Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan in the chair.

The attendees of the meeting were briefed about the technical and financial feasibility of the projects. It was also mentioned that the projects will be implemented through a public-private partnership.
Peshawar-D.I. Khan Motorway will have a six-lane with 19 interchanges and 7-kilometre long two tunnels. The project will be constructed at an estimated cost of PKR 261.6 billion. Also, a 30-kilometre service road will be developed in the populated areas near the motorway.
While the Dir Motorway will start from Chakdara and end at Rabaat. The road project will have 24 bridges, four flyovers, four underpasses, three interchanges, and two tunnels. It will be constructed at a cost of PKR 35.5 billion.

CM Khan, while speaking at the meeting, stated that the said projects are important for the economic stability of the province. It will boost economic activity, trade, and tourism in the region. He ordered the concerned authorities to timely start land acquisition for the project.
