Karachi: The Karachi Development Authority (KDA) is launching four new low-cost schemes; the application forms for which will be available in banks, a news source reported. The formal announcement for their launch is expected to be made by KDA during the first week of December.

People can obtain forms from the bank for PKR 5,000 to participate in the balloting of residential plots. This amount will be non-refundable. After that, the forms have to be submitted with a 25% payment of the total cost of the chosen plot and an attached copy of the buyer’s CNIC to the same bank’s branch. KDA Director General Dr Badar Jamil Mandhro has said that balloting of 5,000 apartments is planned.
Mandhro added that consultants have been hired and all initial formalities for these low-cost schemes have been completed. Scheme 1 of this project is going to be launched behind Lal Qila restaurant, Surjani Town, Federal B Area Block 1and Korangi Town. The mapping and design will begin next month, and construction will be completed within two years.

These housing schemes will contain both plots and apartments. Plots will measure 2, 4, 6, and 8-marlas, while apartments will feature 2, 4 and 5-bedroom apartments. The apartments will be available on easy instalment plans. Prices will start from PKR 1,200,000 and buyers can pay off their instalments over five years.
