Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled details of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” scheme, a major housing initiative aimed at helping individuals own homes without hidden interest payments, as reported on September 3.

As per details, the scheme will be implemented in three phases, addressing diverse housing needs across the province:
Loan Details:
- Rural Areas: Up to PKR. 1.5 million for houses up to 10 marlas, with a monthly payment of PKR. 14,000.
- Urban Areas: Up to PKR. 1.5 million for houses up to 5 marlas, with a monthly payment of PKR. 14,000.
- Major Cities: Loans for four-story flats, with specific terms to be announced, available through easy instalment plans.
Key Features of the Scheme:
- Partnership with Private Housing Schemes: Collaborating with private developers to build homes ranging from 3 to 5 marlas.
- Government Subsidies: Up to PKR 1 million per house to make homeownership more accessible and affordable.
- Target Beneficiaries: Low-income individuals across Punjab.
The founder and chairman of the Akhuwat Foundation Dr. Amjad Saqib met with CM Maryam Nawaz to commend her for launching this initiative. CM Nawaz highlighted that the scheme is already operational in select districts and will progressively expand each year.
“We are committed to making affordable housing accessible to low-income families and fulfilling their dream of owning a home,” said Maryam Nawaz. The program aims to be one of Pakistan’s largest and most cost-effective residential initiatives. This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to addressing housing needs and providing affordable housing solutions for all.
