The domestic cement uptake declined by a massive 37.63% to 2.27 million tonnes in May, as compared with 3.64 million tonnes uptake recorded in May 2019. The cement exports have declined by 24.81% from the corresponding figures of last year.
As per reports, this declining trend has been associated with the slowdown in the construction sector caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ensuing lockdown, the holy month of Ramzan and Eid holidays.
