Karachi: Rise in the activity of construction industry has given a boost to cement sales by 24.3% during the month of April 2021, according to the news sources.

Compared to the sales of same month last year which were recorded at 3.271m tons, this year sales in the domestic market rose to 4.066 million tons. Similarly, the exports also showed a massive increase (252%) raising the bar to 877,163 tons in comparison to last year’s exports of 249,127 tons.
As per the statistics, cement mills in the north region of Pakistan reported 155 times from 1,609 tons to 250,072 tons in a period of one year. Exports of south based mils also showed a rise of 153. 35% i.e. 247,519 tons to 627,091 tons from April 2020 to April 2021.

According to the figures released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) the cement consumption of local market and exports to other countries jointly grew by 40.41 percent in one year. A spokesman from APCMA said that despite the month of Ramadan when cement sales usually drop, the dispatches of cement in the local market is increasing. It is also expected that the end of fiscal year 2021, the cement exports will rise even further and cross the mark of 9 million tons, he added.
