Islamabad: The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has recorded a dip in cement sales during October, according to news published in the leading newspapers on November 3.

As per the details, the cement sales experienced a decline of 5.78% compared to the same month in the previous fiscal year. Total cement dispatches for October 2023 amounted to 4.007 million tons, down from 4.253 million tons in October of the last fiscal year.
Local cement dispatches by the industry during October 2023 amounted to 3.292 million tons, marking a 15.38% decline from the 3.890 million tons dispatched in October 2022. However, there was a significant 97.33% increase in cement exports, with volumes rising from 362,350 tons in October 2022 to 715,028 tons in October 2023.
During October 2023, North-based cement mills dispatched 2.903 million tons of cement, representing an 11.35% decrease compared to the 3.275 million tons dispatched in October 2022. South-based mills dispatched 1.104 million tons of cement in October 2023, a 12.90% increase from the 0.978 million tons dispatched in October 2022.
In the domestic market, North-based cement mills dispatched 2.780 million tons of cement in October 2023, marking an 11.57% decline from the 3.143 million tons dispatched in October 2022. South-based mills dispatched 512,320 tons of cement in the local market during October 2023, a 31.41% decrease from the 746,927 tons dispatched in October 2022.
Exports from North-based mills declined by 6.16%, with quantities decreasing from 131,111 tons in October 2022 to 123,029 tons in October 2023. On the other hand, exports from the South increased significantly by 156.01%, reaching 591,999 tons in October 2023, up from 231,239 tons during the same month the previous year.

For the first four months of the current fiscal year, total cement dispatches (domestic and exports) amounted to 15.892 million tons, which is a 14.55% increase compared to the 13.874 million tons dispatched during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Domestic dispatches during this period totalled 13.426 million tons, a 7.47% increase from the 12.492 million tons in the same period of the previous year. Exports also surged by 78.53%, with volumes reaching 2.466 million tons during the first four months of the current fiscal year, up from 1.381 million tons during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
North-based mills dispatched 11.113 million tons of cement domestically during the first four months of the current fiscal year, showing a 6.83 % increase compared to the 10.402 million tons dispatched from July to October 2022. Exports from the North also increased by 31.31% to 551,264 tons during July-October 2023, compared with 419,823 tons exported during the same period last year.

Total dispatches by North-based mills increased by 7.78% to 11.664 million tons during the first four months of the current financial year, up from 10.822 million tons during the same period of the last financial year.
In the case of South-based mills, domestic dispatches during July-October 2023 were 2.312 million tons, representing a 10.65% increase over the 2.090 million tons of cement dispatched during the same period of the previous fiscal year. Exports from the South also saw a substantial increase of 99.1%, totalling 1.915 million tons during July-October 2023, compared to 0.962 million tons exported during the same period last year.
Total dispatches by South-based mills increased by 38.54% to 4.227 million tons during the first four months of the current financial year, up from 3.051 million tons during the same period of the last financial year.
