Cement industry experiences 7.83% growth in May 2024

Lahore: Cement despatches in Pakistan rose by 7.83% in May 2024, reaching 4.275 million tons compared to 3.965 million tons in May 2023, as reported by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). The news has been sourced through an article on June 5.

• Domestic Despatches: Declined by 2.17% to 3.357 million tons in May 2024, from 3.432 million tons in May 2023.
• Exports: Surged by 72.16%, increasing from 533,215 tons in May 2023 to 917,962 tons in May 2024.

Regional Performance:

North-based Mills:

Overall despatches increased by 1.36% to 2.915 million tons.

• Domestic despatches fell by 0.44% to 2.753 million tons.
• Exports grew by 46.11% to 162,929 tons.

South-based Mills:

Overall despatches rose by 24.91% to 1.359 million tons.

• Domestic despatches dropped by 9.33% to 604,672 tons.
• Exports increased by 79.04% to 755,033 tons.

In the first eleven months of the fiscal year, total despatches increased by 3.00% to 41.730 million tons. Domestic deliveries fell by 3.91% to 35.097 million tons, while exports rose by 66.26% to 6.633 million tons.
