Faisalabad: The District Environment Department has formed anti-smog squads to protect Faisalabad against the smog in the coming days, a news source reported.

Deputy Director Environment Muhammad Tahir stated that the teams would monitor smoke emissions dust particles in the atmosphere around the clock. He added that the teams would help in sealing industries and smalls units that utilise low-quality fuel such as coal.
Tahir also confirmed that that the authorities concerned would seal brick kilns not converted to zigzag technology from November 1. He stated that they would take strict legal action against vehicles emitting smoke. For this purpose, the relevant officials will coordinate with the traffic police.

Earlier this month, the Punjab Home Department had banned the burning of crop residue, plastic, solid municipal waste, leather to combat the smog in the province. The authority imposed the ban according to Section 144(6) Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1898. The ban will last for a period of three months.
