Lahore: The authorities concerned recently established an anti-land grabbing cell to address land grab concerns in the city, a news source reported on January 19. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar expressed his views on the matter during a press briefing.

He stated that the ‘Anti-Qabza Mafia Cell’ had been set up on the recommendations of a committee, recently notified by the Punjab government, comprising representatives from the police, revenue, LDA, Overseas Pakistanis Commission and co-operative departments.
He asked land grab affectees to reach out to the authorities concerned through the helpline 1242; adding that the cell facility will provide immediate assistance to the citizens concerned. He said that the Lahore Police had arrested as many as 300 individuals on land grab charges.

CCPO Dogar further stated that committee would decide cases of illegal occupation within 72 hours; adding that the authorities concerned had updated the details of assets and weapons belonging to alleged land grabbers.
