Quetta: The district administration has launched a crackdown against encroachments located within the immediate vicinity of public buildings, a news source reported. As per officials, all illegal public and private constructions are set to be demolished.

Previously, the Balochistan High Court (BHC) had ordered an operation against encroachments in Quetta. Following this directive, Quetta Administrator Tariq Javed Mengal spearheaded a crackdown jointly carried out by the Elite Force, the tehsil patwari and the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta.

During this operation, the demolition staff razed a wall illegally constructed by the Railways Department on Zarghoon Road. Further, the officials concerned demolished illegal structures on Stewart Road, Science College Cowk and Hockey Chowk.

The removal of encroachment in the abovementioned areas have addressed the long-standing traffic issues. Speaking to the media, Administrator Mengal said that the roads leading towards Quetta Railway Station have been cleared of encroachments to facilitate vehicular movement. He also announced that the crackdown against encroachers will continue without any discrimination.
