Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) launched its anti-encroachment operation in Sohrab Goth, according to a news source. The operation against encroachers in the city is in full swing for its 36th straight day. Illegal business structures are being cleared out from different parts of the city. The campaign reached Sohrab Goth and Gohar Plaza on Tuesday.
The authorities ensured that the footpaths and pavements in the area were completely cleared out. The officials were also found in Baldia Town as a storm water drain was cleared of illegal constructions. The order to launch operation to clear storm drains water was issued by Karachi Mayor earlier in June this year.
It has been reported that the drive has been a success so far, as traders that are being cleared out are cooperating. Both sides of Sohrab Goth, including Al Asif Square, was cleared out with no resistance from the traders. The anti-encroachment drive in the area was conducted under the supervision of the concerned assistant commissioners.
The KMC continues to remove encroachments from the city following up on the notice issued by the Supreme Court last month.
