Multan: The Municipal Corporation Multan (MCM) on Tuesday launched an anti-encroachment operation in several areas including the Passport Office Road, New Multan, Gulshan Market, and Madni intersection of the city, a news source reported.

MCM Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Iqbal Farid spearheaded the drive under which the officials concerned bulldozed makeshift places, small wooden shopping points, and other illegal structures. This drive also targeted instances of vandalism as the teams removed wall chalking and large banners and posters from Goal Bagh Gulgasht area.
Iqbal Farid said that vandalism and encroachment had ruined the cultural and architectural beauty of the city. The operation forms part of the plan for the beautification of the city initiated by the commissioner of Multan, he added.

Moreover, he requested the residents to not only cooperate with the anti-encroachment campaign, but to also further its cause by actively discouraging those involved in such nefarious activities.
