Gujranwala: The Gujranwala Commissioner has approved a stage-wise grand anti-encroachment operation from August 22 on 27 major avenues and bazaars of Gujranwala, according to a news source.
In the first phase, the operation will be conducted in the inner city along a 9-kilometre strip of Grand Trunk (GT) Road, on both sides of the road.

The meeting chaired by Gujranwala Commissioner Waqas Mehmood also decided that not only will the authorities display awareness banners and distribute relevant pamphlets before the operation, but will also make announcements to the effect through loudspeakers on cars and rickshaws. Afterwards the operation will be launched from August 22.

The operation will involve the removal of all permanent and temporary encroachments including those put in place by shopkeepers. Khokhas (kiosks) where illegal will also be removed.
