Karachi: Pakistan Railways authorities, along with the city administration, is to start an operation against encroachments set up on land belonging to Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), a news source reported. The final warning in this regard was issued yesterday. The district administration and Pakistan Railways officials will have the support from police officials to ensure the drive is a success.

On Tuesday, the authorities also visited the Gharibabad Furniture Market to announce the initiation of the anti-encroachment drive. With this final notice, businesses along the KCR had taken the warning seriously and started to clear out the area. With the cooperation of the traders in Gharibabad, the authorities believe that the operation will be completed within a couple of days.

The anti-encroachment drive along KCR is a follow-up of the instructions for clearing encroachments from railway lines issued by the Supreme Court last month.
