Lahore: The district administration of the city has been carrying out an anti-encroachment drive against land grabbing in various parts of Lahore – in a clean-up drive to ensure the removal of all illegal fortifications, according to sources.

Special teams have been deployed to different areas of the city to conduct the operation. On Tuesday, a team was sent to Model Town where officials seized generators and demolished rooms constructed illegally. They also retrieved three open spaces which were supposed to be used as public parks, and now will be open for the general public within the week. On Wednesday, a team was sent to Katch Jail Road and surrounding areas, where they seized illegal outdoor sitting areas and demolished various structures.

The Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed, district administration has reportedly laid out a comprehensive plan to remove illegal encroachment from areas which are specifically allocated to cattle markets for sacrificial animals. A special squad is being formed for this task.
