Karachi: In a drive against encroachments launched on the instructions of Supreme Court, three restaurants in Hill Park have been demolished, a news source quoted Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar. Talking to the media, Akhtar expressed determination on eradicating encroachments from all public parks and sports facilities in the city.
As per the SC verdict given earlier, public places, parks, and amenities plots cannot have permanent or temporary structures or set up used for commercial purposes. After demolishing three restaurants and several other forms of encroachment in Hill Park, Akhtar has indicated that more operations will be carried out against those involved in such activities at other public parks and places.
During this particular drive in Hill Park, Karachi Municipal Authority also confiscated the goods of encroachers. The mayor also said that drive against encroachment will continue throughout Ramadan.
