Sargodha: The Anti-Corruption Department has recovered PKR 64 million in map-approval fees, reported a news source. Owners of several plazas, schools, marquees, and hospitals had not been charged for not paying their dues.

Due to reports of the involvement of government officials considered responsible for the payment delays, the Anti-Corruption regional director formed an inquiry committee. Based on the committee’s report, the department recovered map-approval fees from several schools on January 9. The department also sealed a few institution unwilling to make their payments.

The Anti-Corruption Department has submitted all recovered fee amounts to the national treasury. Reportedly, the remaining defaulters have agreed to clear their pending dues. Under the second phase of the operation, the department will seal properties of those failing to comply with its orders.

Furthermore, the Anti-Corruption Department has filed cases against defaulters of map-approval fee. The agency will process the cases on a priority basis to deal with those causing losses to the national exchequer.
