Punjab Chief Minister has said that the provision of shelter for poor and homeless people is the next agenda for PML (N). He further added that after Ashiana Housing Scheme, Punjab Government is launching another five marla residential plots scheme where the plots will be distributed among homeless people in cities and villages of the province.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding five marla scheme and the awarding of proprietary rights to the dwellers of kachi abadi. The proprietary rights of the joint property would be given to husband and wife. The CM said that the government has already completed the process of identification of 110,554 suitable residential plots.
He said that proprietary rights would also be granted to slum dwellers throughout the province and the process will begin from 26th April and expected to be completed by 30th May. The CM asked commissioners and district coordination officers to actively join the public welfare projects. It is because no negligence or delay would be tolerated in the execution of the projects. He also issued instructions for selecting a suitable site for the Ashiana Housing Scheme in Multan and asked the officials to present the plan of project within few days. The CM also announced that computerised balloting for the distribution of 5 marla plots would be held on 6th June. He further added that 713 suitable sites have already been identified in the various cities of the province and the plots will be allotted to the homeless people on merit, which would materialise the dream of poor people. All the basic amenities will be provided to the residents of this scheme.
While issuing the instructions regarding awarding the proprietary rights of property projects, the CM said that satellite and physical survey as well as the verification process should be completed within two weeks so that further process can be started. All the related district coordination officers are directed to conduct the physical survey to verify the suitability of the project.
He also directed that a planned system must be evolved, where the names of cultivators would be deleted and their names will be added as the owners of the land. This thing will improve the self esteem of people and they will work more efficiently and show dedication after getting their names registered as owners. The CM said that the meeting will be held again to monitor the progress of the project.
