Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday issued warnings of a looming urban flooding situation in Karachi and Hyderabad as it anticipated a renewed wave of monsoon rains set to pour in Sindh and some parts of Balochistan from Thursday to Saturday, according to news sources.

As per the official notification the PMD has stated that a low-pressure system from the Bay of Bengal is to approach Sindh – bringing strong monsoon currents in Sindh, south Punjab and eastern Balochistan.
The department has predicted widespread rain and thundershowers for Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Tando Allah Yar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar, Matiari, Dadu, Jamshoro, and Shaheed Benazirabad in Sindh.

Other cities to experience this monsoon spell include Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Kambarshahdad Kot, Kashmore, Jaffarabad, Ghotki, Jhalmagsi, Lasbela, Khuzdar, and Awaran on Friday and Saturday. The department has warned authorities in Khuzdar to remain alert this weekend as a flash flooding in the hill torrents might occur.
