Islamabad: Finance Minister Asad Umar has hinted at another mini-budget which could be presented as early as next month, a news source reported. The government is considering the option as the current level of fiscal deficit is not suitable.
While giving a briefing to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, Umar confirmed there is a proposal to increase taxes and tariffs, but maintained that the government has yet to finalise the outlay.

The mini-budget is being prepared as per suggestions of the Economic Advisory Council. The finance minister stressed the government is not in a position to waste time and would present the third money bill of this fiscal year in January next year.
The National Assembly had passed the Supplementary Finance (Amendment) Bill on October 3 this year. The mini-budget proposed lifting the ban on non-filers buying properties worth over PKR 5 million.
