Islamabad: The Federal Government of Pakistan is looking to introduce an amnesty scheme for those who submitted their applications for availing the previously announced amnesty scheme, but couldn’t submit the related documents for asset declaration, reported a news source. According to statistics, the count of those missing out to complete the procedure reaches 3,500.
Federal Minister for Revenue Hamad Azhar confirmed the news, stating that an amnesty scheme is in the making for a large number of people who couldn’t submit related documents before the previous scheme expired on July 31, 2018. These people have reportedly contacted the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to submit their declaration forms to avail the scheme.
The FBR is looking into the matter and plans to announce one such scheme for those who have their payment slip IDs generated, have submitted their application, and those who faced issues regarding difference in mode of payment.
Under the amnesty scheme announced earlier this year, taxes weren’t paid against assets worth PKR 300 billion, despite the fact that declaration forms for these had been submitted.
