Finance Minister Asad Umar recently spoke with reporters on the matter. He said the details of the amnesty scheme had not yet been finalised. He did confirm that it will be announced before the new budget.
The minister also announced that the government is going to open the sale and purchase of properties from July 1 onwards. He said that the sale and purchase of vehicles for non-filers, announced earlier this year, had led to a lot of job creation. He said that nothing barred the taxation authorities concerned from issuing tax notices to the purchasers of vehicles and properties – who can easily bring them into the tax net and recover taxes.
