Islamabad: The tax amnesty scheme announced earlier this year that allows turning domestic and foreign assets white by the paying a small percentage of tax expires today and so far no extension has been granted in the deadline, reported a news source. The Federal Board of Revenue Chairperson Rukhsana Yasim said that those looking to avail the scheme should do so by today as there will no more extension.
The government had extended the deadline by one on requests made by different organisations and trade bodies as well as the individuals who couldn’t avail scheme due to several reasons. Similar requests are being made by the investors and industrialists, believing that revenue generation in the post-election period can be higher as many people may now be less wary of declaring their assets
The amount paid by over 3,000 declarants between July 1 and July 31 amounts to PKR 11 billion. Whereas, around 55,000 people had declared assets worth over PKR 1770 billion until June 2018.
