Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mahmood Murtaza on Tuesday (November 02) announced that the Ammar Chowk will be open for traffic by the end of December 2021, news sources reported. The PKR 1.3 billion project is aimed at alleviating the growing traffic congestion problems in the city.

According to the details, the chairman stated that the project was previously estimated to cost PKR 754 million, however, owing to the design changes and high construction materials and techincal modifications, the project’s cost was increased. The new design of the project – as approved in Project Concept-1 (PC-1) – includes the construction of twin underpasses, undergrounding of High Tension (H.T) and Low Tension (L.T) cables and the addition of a new service line and reinforced earth panel. Steps have also been taken to make the surrounding area clean and green.

The project is part of the four mega-projects announced by the Punjab government for the cantonment city. The other three projects include the construction of Kutcherry Chowk, Defence Chowk, and Nullah Leh Expressway.
