Karachi: In its first meeting on Tuesday, the Industry Liaison Committee (ILC) informed a delegation of the local business community that the allotment of industrial plots would be cancelled if they were acquired for the development of specific industries, yet still remained unutilised despite the expiry of the stipulated time period — a news source reported.

The committee in question was formed by the Sindh government, under the chairmanship of the Sindh Chief Secretary. The committee’s members include secretaries/senior officials of all relevant departments/agencies and representatives of Sindh based chambers of commerce and industry, as well as associations for trade and industry.

In addition to the industrial plots, the meeting also featured a discussion on the issues being faced by nine Sindh Industrial Trading Estate (SITE) units and 17 Sindh Small Industrial units in the province. The businesspersons expressed their concerns over infrastructure of industrial areas and other problems that they had been facing of late. The Chief Secretary assured the visiting delegation that comprehensive efforts would be made in order to redress the grievances of the community.
